I could waste time and tell you a little about myself but who cares? This blog isn't about me. It's about the inside scoop on the daily life of the students attending Miami Palmetto Senior High School. I'll fill you in weekly with new information about what's going on around campus. well... lets begin.
It seems as if summer is an eternity away. Waking
up at 6 in the morning to get ready for school every day is hard. The first day
was like mission impossible and everyday after that just got harder. Imagining
waking up at any time past 8 am on a Monday morning sounds like heaven. The
school weeks are going by slower and slower, but each long day is one day
closer to summer vacation. There are 52 more school days until we'll be able to
sleep in on that Monday morning. As the school year comes to an end there are
more activates. Especially for the seniors. On Tuesday this week for the
students like me who have first lunch we all witnessed a few members of the
palmetto marching band hit their drums and hype up the crowd for Lexi who is
running for prom queen. All the seniors are stressing out this weekend about
who to bring as a date, what hotel to stay at, what dress/tux to wear, what
after parties to go to, etc. this weekend will be an extreme memorable weekend
for them, their high school prom. Also elections are running for who will be
2013-2014 palmetto prom queen. Results are also out from last week’s student
council elections. The results were pretty shocking to m a lot of students.
Talk went around the school about students that have been president/vp in student
council for years that had been beaten in the election this year. This
week is also the beginning of the play Shrek! The drama students have been
working extremely hard staying late afternoons and early mornings rehearsing
for the show. They put in so much effort and want the show to be perfect. Don’t
forget to come out and enjoy the play for only $5 in the auditorium. The talent
at palmetto is breath taking, you won’t be disso pointed. Are you having
trouble in math? Need a little extra help? I know I do. I use to have too much
pride to say I needed extra help when in reality all this time I could’ve been
getting extra help and my grade would have probably improved a whole letter
grade! Many of the math teachers have tutoring after school or before, ask your
teacher to find out where the tutoring for the course you’re taking is
available. I started going to Ms. Collasso’s tutoring after school ever
Wednesday and noticed such an improvement in my grade. If you’re feeling
nervous about taking the eoc why not come next Friday (on the teacher planning
day) and review for the eoc. Do you notice the student mentors in your class
too? Have you ever asked one for
help? Don’t be shy that’s the whole reason that they’re there. Most of them
also offer tutoring for low prices. As the year comes to an end the amount of
absences keeps adding up. I don’t think its fair to only allow 10 absences
without having a parent come in and verify why you are missing school. I went
into the office, filled out the admit form, then after waiting in line for such
a long time the lady working the desk looked up my record and didn’t let me get
my admit. When I asked why the lady told me I had to have a parent come in and
sign a paper before I could get my excused admit. That’s ridiculous! I think
they should allow more absences before they take it to that level. It’s in convenient
for my parent to have to come in and be late to work for something as pointless
as that, oh and I don’t even want to get started on the tardy policy! Three
tardies and you get a detention, that’s ridiculous too. Everyone over sleeps
sometimes or wakes up not feeling so well. They should defiantly allow more
tardies before they give out detentions. The school is really starting to give
out detention like lollipops. This week they have been cracking down on hall
sweeps, uniform sweeps, and making sure no student is in the hallway without a
pass. Any student roaming the hall with no pass is automatically taken to csi. Csi
must be so boring so words of advice don’t get caught without a pass!
I really enjoyed reading your blog. Obviously I attend Palmetto, but reading this made me feel like and outsider looking in. I can not wait to read your next post. I liked the fact that you added personal things that you did that week.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your blog also. Altough there were numerous grammatical errors and your blog was SUPER long, l liked how you notified people about events and what Palmetto High School is in detail. I can't wait until your next post.. ~Neal Benchimol
